Web Development

Introduction
For this coursework, we were tasked with programming a website using HTML, CSS, and Javascript. I chose to make a website about the Romance Languages (e.g. Spanish and French), and programmed it using Replit.com.

This site was created for the Web Development course at City, University of London.
Usability Needs
My website is aimed at people who are familiar with one Romance language, and want to learn the others. So, their usability needs would include tools for comparison and learning.

Given that, I coded a quote generator in each language, and a quiz for comparing them. I also included maps to show users where each language is spoken, and a section to search for minor Romance languages.
Design Inspiration
To make the website feel cohesive, I arranged a color palette on coolors.co. For the UI, Dribbble became a resource for inspiration. Additionally, the main font was chosen for legibility, while the header fonts were picked for their elegant look. For a comprehensive evaluation, I used Jakob Nielsen's 10 Usability Heuristics, especially focusing on design consistency.

Impact
Being a UX Designer who knows code allows me to communicate effectively with web development teams. It has informed me of what technology can and can't do so that we can implement the right design solutions, and be on the same page while we collaborate.
